At PRUNĂ, "premium" is not a marketing adjective - it is a set of verifiable decisions: which fibre we use, how much the fabric weighs, and where and under what conditions it is made. This page holds all the answers, before you even ask.

The fabric

Every PRUNĂ T-shirt is made of 100% organic cotton, knitted in a single jersey structure. Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides and fertilisers and without genetically modified seeds, using significantly less water than conventional cotton.

One clarification we are always happy to make: T-shirt fabric is knitted, not woven - it is the yarn loops that give it its characteristic stretch and softness.

Specifications by model

Model Weight Fit Yarn Finish
Morning Dew 200 GSM Oversized Ring-spun, combed Fabric washed
Soft Breeze 215 GSM Relaxed Ring-spun, carded (loose knit) Panel washed
Silent Oak 240 GSM Relaxed Open-end, carded (dry handfeel) Fabric washed
Stone & Sky 280 GSM Oversized Ring-spun, combed Fabric washed

For reference: standard retail T-shirts are usually 140-160 GSM. The PRUNĂ range starts at 200 GSM and goes up to 280 GSM - heavyweight territory.

All models go through an industrial wash (fabric/panel wash), which stabilises the fabric dimensionally and reduces shrinkage in later washes.

Certifications

The fabric and garment manufacturing of PRUNĂ T-shirts are certified at producer level under the following standards:

GOTS - Global Organic Textile Standard (version 7.0). The most rigorous international standard for organic textiles: it covers the entire chain, from fibre to garment, including environmental criteria (restricted chemicals, wastewater treatment) and social criteria. Certification body: Control Union Certifications B.V. (Netherlands), internationally accredited.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, class I. Every component of the product (fabric, thread, label) is tested for harmful substances. Class I is the strictest category of the standard - the one applicable to baby articles.

PETA-Approved Vegan. The products contain no materials of animal origin.

Working conditions. The production facilities are audited under the Fair Wear system for fair working conditions and fair pay.

Origin

The fabric is knitted and dyed, and the T-shirts are sewn, in Bangladesh, in facilities audited under the environmental and social standards above. Order preparation and shipping take place in Romania.

Care

So they look the same after many washes:

  • Wash at a maximum of 30°C, with similar colours
  • Wash and iron inside out
  • Never iron directly on the print
  • No bleach, no high-temperature tumble drying

Environmental impact

The fabric producer publishes life-cycle assessments (LCA) for each model. For reference, the cradle-to-gate carbon footprint of a size M T-shirt is between 2.5 and 3.9 kg CO₂eq, depending on model and colour (LCA data provided by the producer). Choosing natural, undyed colours further reduces water use and emissions.
